How to Change DNS Servers and Speed Up Downloads

Switching DNS servers on a router can also speed up website access and provide better security for your network connections. Switch to a third-party DNS server from Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) or Google (8.8.8.8).

How to Change DNS on Your Router:

On Your Router DNS Setup Guide

Accessing Router Settings:

  1. Sign in to the router.
  2. Open a web browser. Enter the router's IP address in the address bar, which is typically 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.
  3. "admin" and "admin" to enter the settings.

Finding the DNS Section:

  1. Find the network settings, such as LAN or WAN (these vary depending on the router's manufacturing interface).
  2. Locate the field "DNS" or "DNS Servers."

Setting DNS Servers:

  1. Put 1.1.1.1 as your primary DNS server.
  2. Use 8.8.8.8 as secondary DNS server (where provided).

Saving Settings:

  1. Click on "Save" or "Apply" to take action.
  2. If necessary, reboot the router to apply your changes.

All your devices connected to your router will now use the DNS servers you set.
